Last week, DJ Babey Drew found himself in New Zealand, which almost never happens to DJs. In town as the official DJ for Chris Brown (Chris Brown and Rihanna played a show here), Drew stopped by for a jam. More photos and a review of the concert onwards.

Babey Drew hung out with our crew up here at Serato, and went through a few features of Scratch Live he didn't know. When I say "a few", I quite literally mean about two. Drew's been using Scratch Live for three years now and has DJ'ed for loads of talented artists (including Lil Wayne), which is enough to put my measly one or two night a month DJ career to shame.

Chris Brown and Rihanna played a sold out show together at Vector Arena in Auckland. As much as I like to think of myself as an overly conscious underground music lover, I was feeling this show big time. We don't often get flame throwers and fireworks and lots of lights at shows here, so I was all about it.

The predominantly young and female crowd went nuts over Chris Brown and sang along to all his songs. He did a Michael Jackson melody and I think I was the only one doing the Thriller dance along with him (Shamon!). Babey Drew went to the effort of collecting a few hit kiwi songs and had the crowd going nuts when he played "Stop the Music" by P-Money.

Rihanna's set was pretty impressive - I was pretty skeptical of her live show beforehand so she blazed me. She did a cover of Paper Planes and, seeing as this is young Auckland, I was about one of the four people in the crowd that knew it.

Overall the show kicked ass. I had a rad time, and even gave in to buying a concert t-shirt. I took some photos on the night, but it seems my camera wasn't up to spec - check an upcoming post about the Jay Z concert in NY to see Jeff D trump me with his amazing DSLR. I decided to post a few up anyway:
