I mentioned that we received a test pressing recently in the office for a yet-to-be-announced Serato Pressing. Well, the cat is out of the bag! Serato and Def Jam have teamed up to release a limited edition Serato Pressing in celebration of their 25th Anniversary! This double 12'' clear vinyl release will feature six classic Def Jam tracks on the A sides, and the Serato Control Tone on the B sides.

BAM!

More information and links after the jump!

Founded in 1984 by Rick Rubin and Russell Simmonds, Def Jam quickly became the most influential hip hop label in the world. Over the years, the label has been home to legends like Public Enemy, LL Cool J, EPMD, Jay-Z, Method Man, Slick Rick Redman and Nas. It still supports hip hop and R'n'B to this day, signing and promoting artists like Rihanna, Amerie, The Roots, Ne-Yo, and many more.

The tracks chosen for this release highlight some of the amazing artists that have graced the Def Jam roster.

Disc 1:
I Need a Beat - LL Cool J
Children's Story - Slick Rick
Paul Revere - Beastie Boys

Disc 2:
I Just Wanna Love U (Give It To Me) - Jay Z
Party Up (Up In Here) - DMX
Da Rockwilder - Method Man & Redman

Pre-order and listen links can be found here. There's an awesome collectors pack with the Serato Pressing x Def Jam double 12'', slipmats, an Adidas X Def Jam t-shirt and a Def Jam 25 Year box set of CDs in a signature crate. Quantities are limited, so get in quick - this is one release I think every DJ will want in their collection.

Nice work Def Jam and congrats on 25 years!

Nice.

It would had been even cooler if there was a "Vinyl" edition of the big package with vinyls instead of the CD's.

I agree with nik39....

Personally i think "Def Sham" fronted on WL/Serato Djs.Most of us who been spinning for YEERZ! spent $$ on the original 12" from back in the days & now they only release 3 joints on WL for the 25 Anniv??..what a tease!..let me go blow the dust off my orig.vinyl at least i have more than 3 joints on 12"..

Hey selectajay,

Def Jam will be releasing the other three tracks from the Serato Pressing soon on Whitelabel. As for back catalogue, I'll pass the feedback on.

I agree with nik39 as well as selectajay, I've been rockin for years, it would have been really nice to have the big package in vinyl , but the idea is pretty cool though

Making the Def Jam 25th Anniversary-whitelabel release NOT available to non-USA users sucks really hard. :-(
Brigid 12:55 AM 7 December 2009
Sorry Nik, I know it's not ideal. Worldwide distribution for this stuff is our number one priority.
JARROD 4:37 PM 8 December 2009
I Love this package, i think the vinyl should have came in other colors like white.I ordered mines the first day, What's next serato ?
Atomik Muzik 2:44 AM 9 December 2009
I ordered mines too, cannot wait to get my hands on it!!
Dj Lowpro 8:12 AM 15 December 2009
i this should come with a extra download possibility or usb stick with all def jam 12 inches in decent quality, including instrumentals and accapella's. i think deejay's would pay a minimum of 100 euro's 4 that package in decent quality. That would have been really big.

When I look at my Def Jam collection I see nothing but vinyl. even the re press records are that. So come on Def Jam get it right there should be 12" in the first place.
