The True School Park Jam Series is legendary in New York - I was fortunate enough to make it to one of the parties in 2008 (take me baaaack!). I got forwarded this video on Twitter (thanks Sweetpants!) and it reminded me of what a great series of parties it is.
This, for us, is amazing - seeing three of the best, Afrika Bambaataa, Jazzy Jay & Kool DJ Red Alert spinning on Scratch Live. Three original pioneers of Hip Hop culture, and they all embraced the digital age pretty early on. They're still three of the best DJs around and would have the most unbelievable record collections!
Check this video from the Park Jam Series in 2009:
"Afrika Bambaataa, Kool DJ Red Alert, and The Original Jazzy Jay reunite on the wheels of steel for the first time in over 25 years. Many have neglected the fact these individuals are primarily responsible for the genesis of hip hop culture."
We were fortunate enough to have Jazzy Jay down to NZ to play a party for us in 2008 - I remember it like it was yesterday...
If it Werent Jazzy Jay Jazzy Jeff Dj Kool ,Red Alert .& Afrika Bammbata alot of the true Dj wouldnt of had the inspiration that these guys gave ,You can metion there name and see that it reminded a person of what it meant to be true to the art .Hip Hop is something youll never forget but everytime youll hear it you Will Learn Something New. My Props To Those Guys because i worked my ass off to get 2 technics and a mixer and let me say my music knowledge has grown so much because of all of them .
Mentors to all djs , inspiration to me and to all that spin from the heart.
