Day 3 of Movement was hampered only slightly by a bit of thunder and lightning (very very frightening), so we spent our last day cruising around Detroit with Recloose, checking out some of the places which were significant to him when he was coming up as a DJ and producer. Most places were closed as it was a memorial holiday, but it was still choice to check them out. Among many places we visited the Motown Museum, the beautiful but dilapidated Detroit train station, and the legendary Garden Bowl/The Majestic where Recloose worked to make ends meet when he was making music by night.
Later that night we caught up with DJ Godfather and Mark Ernestus for dinner at Fishbones, which also had the largest indoor waterfall (except it hasn't worked for 2 and a half years). It was a great way to end our last day in Detroit, and especially cool when Mark drove us out of town to a diner to meet a couple of the Model 500 crew. Wow.
Mark Ernestus and Recloose
The next day we flew to New York and caught up with crew at Dubspot, an awesome DJ and production education center in the heart of NYC. Later that night we had dinner with our mates from Ableton, A-Trak and Just Blaze at The Breslin, where they spoiled us rotten with amazing food. Nom nom nom. It was great to catch up with such amazingly talented people, and although fleeting made us want to get back to New York pronto.
Team Serato have been on the move...
